Canterbury Library Receives New Books in Honor of Beloved Former Teacher

Canterbury Elementary School welcomed a special delivery to its library, more than 30 new books added in honor of longtime District 47 educator Nancy Tober.

Tober dedicated 33 years to teaching in Crystal Lake Elementary District 47, spending her career at both Canterbury and Coventry Elementary Schools. Her lasting impact on students and staff continues to be felt, and through her trust, Canterbury was able to expand its library collection with a wide selection of new titles for students to enjoy.

Members of the DKG Society International Alpha Theta Chapter of McHenry County visited the Canterbury Library to present the books selected in Tober’s honor. The books were purchased from Between the Lynes, an independent bookstore in Woodstock, further supporting literacy and the local community.

Students in Ms. Schulz’s class had the special opportunity to be the first to receive and preview the new books, sharing in the excitement of fresh stories and learning experiences that will benefit Canterbury students for years to come.

The addition of these books not only enriches the school’s library, but also serves as a meaningful tribute to a teacher whose dedication to education continues to make a difference
